Gov. Bill Ritter has opened an economic development mission to Asia by pushing for a flight from Denver to Tokyo.
Ritter, Denver International Airport Manager Kim Day, Colorado Economic Development Director Don Elliman and others met Sunday with officials from All Nippon Airways Co., a Japanese vice minister for foreign affairs and U.S. trade and embassy officials.
Ritter and a delegation of Colorado business, economic development and research leaders are trying to strengthen ties with Japanese companies and investors and encourage more.
Colorado had $359 million in exports last year to Japan, its fourth-largest export market.
The Colorado delegation also plans to visit Beijing and Shanghai before returning home Nov. 25.
