1st Bank Closing 15 Branches In Colorado

1st Bank has announced it is closing 15 branches in Colorado because of a lack of customers.

A dozen of those slated for closure are along the Front Range. The other three are in Avon, Vail and Colorado Springs.

1st Bank vice president Jim Reuter tells the Denver Post customers are relying more on electronic banking, ATMs and other forms of banking that don't require tellers.

The bank also announced plans to open several new branches, including one in Glenwood Springs and one in Chandler, Ariz.

FirstBank Holding Co. has about 125 branches in Colorado, Arizona and California and held nearly $11 billion in deposits at the end of June.
