Mother, Father Charged With Attempted Murder of Baby

The Colorado Springs parents accused of beating their infant nearly to death, make their first court appearances.

Jesse Lee Kaizen and Amanda Sims were arrested Wednesday for the attempted murder of their 9-month-old daughter.

Police say the baby was admitted to Memorial Hospital July 6th with serious injuries.

The child survived, but her injuries raised red flags for police.

Kaizen and Sims are charged with attempted first degree murder.

Family members were in the courtroom for the proceedings. They tell 11 News the couple is innocent and would never hurt their daughter.

Monaca Tipton is Amanda Sims' sister. She says,"My sister is being wrongly accused because she would never hurt any of her kids, she loves her kids."

Meanwhile, Kaizen's sister Adrieanna tells 11 News, "My brother loves his kids, all of them. They're his world. He's never, ever harmed them, he hates to see them hurt."

Bond has been set for each of them at $100,000. They will be back in court later this month.

i really wish she would have stayed with the couple that had adopted her when she was born, this could of been avoided.i hate reading stuff like this, its so horrible and sad.i hope this baby is done suffering and goes to a great family, hopefully not any of the family members. obviously their indenial.

I want to say something. Amanda gave her baby up for adoption to my husband and I when she was born. It was the greatest day of our lives. We named her Ashlyn and fell in love with her immediately. We cared for her for 2 months when we got the call that Amanda wanted her back. She told me I have everything and she has nothing. She wanted her baby back so she could get the father back. The only thing that got us through this year was hoping our baby was living a good life with her brother and sister. I can not believe the system would allow this evil person to get her child back and now look what happened. She would have been so safe and so loved with us. We will always love you Ashlyn (Kendra). Please help change the system so abuse like this can not continue.

Tyffanie! Amanda DOES NOT have a 10 year old son and go back the school and learn how to spell. Also the child DID NOT go back to them. She went to the hospital then hospice then a foster home.
