A man shoplifts items from a Save a Lot Food Store, and then when a store employee confronts him, he pulls out a handgun, and takes off.

The robbery happened just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the Save a Lot on the 400 block of S. Circle Drive in Colorado Springs.

When the suspect was confronted, he apparently didn't say anything, just ran east along Airport Rd.

Sunday evening, police searched the area and located one possible suspect, who was later determined not to be the suspect.

Based on witness testimony, the suspect may have gone into the Tembers Apartment nearby. Door-to-door searches were not successful in finding the suspect. He's described as a Caucasian in his thirties, about six-feet tall, 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue and silver windbreaker, dark baseball cap, jeans, and white athletic shoes.

If you know anything about the crime, or the suspect, call Crime Stoppers in Colorado Springs at 634-STOP. You're anonymous tip could earn you a cash reward.

That is so sad. I just hope that the robbers will be caught. Just about every industry needs some debt relief these days, but some have been stoically quiet during the recession. Restaurants need debt relief, believe it or not – though you can't buy a Congressman with cheeseburgers. (Like they don't take bribes – it's irrefutable at this point.) Standard & Poor, the rating agency, has singled out a few franchises with financial issues, specifically Perkins, Kripsy Kreme, and Sbarro's. Perkins, akin to Denny's or Shari's, suffered a nearly $10 million shortfall since 2008, Kripsy Kreme has been plagued with debt problems since 2005, and Sbarro's hasn't been able to open new locations and is bleeding cash. Restaurants are one of the most common entry level employers, so perhaps restaurants deserve some debt relief.
