UCCS Ties for Second at RMAC Fall Preview

LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women’s golf team put two scoring golfers in the top 10 and tied for second in the RMAC Fall Preview today at Fox Hollow Golf Course. McKenna Vanko earned her second top-three finish in her early Mountain Lion career with a 9-over 151 in the two-round tournament.

Vanko finished with two birdies in the final four holes and led the scoring members of the team in today’s round with a 5-over 76. She tied for third overall and finished four strokes behind the winner. Vanko was joined in the top 10 by Julia Baroth who turned in a 6-over 77 for the second straight round. She tied for eighth in her second top 10 finish in her second collegiate tournament.

Timbrelee McNair lowered her score by five strokes today with a 78 and Megan Vernon closed out the team scorecard with an 81 for the second straight day. The duo finished one stroke away from each other in the tournament standings with McNair tied for No. 26 at 19-over, and Vernon tied for No. 29 at 20-over. Alex Darwin tied for No. 18 at 16-over but her 82 was dropped in today’s team score.

Regina Dillon tied for the best score in the tournament today with a 2-over 73 and lowered her score by nine strokes from yesterday. She tied for No. 10 as an individual golfer and therefore didn’t factor into the team score today.

UCCS will be back in action next week, sept. 18-19, for the Regional Preview hosted by Fort Lewis at Hillcrest Golf Club in Durango, Colo.
