DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. Martin Truex Jr. qualified 13th and will start on the inside of Row 7 for Saturday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway.

Truex lapped the 2.5-mile tri-oval in 47.069 seconds at 191.209 mph. Qualifying consisted of just two rounds, with the cut after the first round set with the top 12.

"It was okay, I think -- you never know what you're going to get here,” said Truex. “Not much practice yesterday and we didn't do any qualifying runs so we just kind of winged it. I think 13th will be an okay starting spot.”

Regarding Saturday night’s race Truex said, "You have to be as aggressive as you can to stay up front. I don’t think I have finished this race in 10 years. I'm just here praying for a top-10 and some stage points."

Chase Elliott won the pole. The balance of the top-12 qualifiers were Alex Bowman, Brad Keselowski, Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Ryan Newman, Michael McDowell, Clint Bowyer, Austin Dillon, Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney.

Coverage of the 160-lap 400-mile race will air live beginning at 5 p.m. MT (7 p.m. ET) on NBC, NASCAR Sirius Radio Channel 90 and MRN.
