PUEBLO, COLO. Led by a strong back nine by Rachanok Rahulpan, Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Golf moved up one spot to earn a second place finish at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Fall Preview at the Fox Hollow Golf Course.
The ThunderWolves shot a +53 (621) to earn a tie for second with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. They finished three strokes back of first place Colorado Mesa University.
Rahulpan a.k.a "Mint" (Jr., Pathumthani, Thailand) carded a team-best +10 (152) to earn a tie for fifth place. The Dodge City Community College transfer caught fire on the back nine, keeping an even par to shoot a +3 (75) on day two. She improved by four strokes on her second time through the course at Fox Hollow.
Team captains Courtney Ewing and Jolene Kam both shared 13th place with a +14 (156). Kam (Jr., Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia) led the Pack after day one with a +5 (77). Ewing (Jr., Pueblo Wets, Colo.) held third overall after the front nine on day two. She ended up with a +8 (79).
Orakorn Thirayatorn a.k.a. "Seven" (Jr., Meang Khonkaen, Thailand) carded the Pack's second-best score on the final day of competition with a +5 (76). Thirayatorn placed 17th with a combined scored +15 (157).
Freshman Kellsey Sample (Monument, Colo.) rounded out the Pack's lineup with a scoring effort on day one thanks to a +10 (81). She finished her second round with a +11 (82) to place 33rd in just her second collegiate tournament.
As a team, the Pack shot a +25 on the second day of competition to jump from third to second. Their team score was the second best of any of the 14 squads on day two.
With back-to-back second place finishes to start the season, the Pack will look for their first tournament win of 2017-18 when they compete at the NCAA West Regional Preview Sept.18-19 at the Hillcrest Golf Club in Durango, Colo.
