GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - For the first time in 2018 Matt Holliday was on the diamond for a professional baseball game.
Holliday, who signed a Minor League deal with the Colorado Rockies last weekend, played in his first game with the Grand Junction Rockies going 1-for-3 with a double, one RBI and a walk.
Holliday will now join the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes.
"I've enjoyed our few days here," Holliday said after Wednesday night's game. "I've been able to get all my work in at a nice facility. It's allowed me to check off all the boxes I wanted to get done before I compete at a Triple-A type level."
