Kahler claims RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (January 9, 2017) – For the first time in the 2016-17, Colorado State University – Pueblo Men's Basketball center Nelson Kahler earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Kahler (Sr., Noosa Heads, Australia) was dominant this weekend with 16.5 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game. He also rejected seven shots this weekend and came up with a steal.
In the Pack's overtime loss to South Dakota School of Mines, Kahler netted his first double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds. He also had five blocks. With time winding down in regulation, Kahler rejected a SD Mines buzzer beater to send the game into overtime.
He had two more blocks in the Pack's lopsided win over BHSU. Kahler finished with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting. At the free-throw line, Kahler swished 9-of-10 for the week.
Kahler ranks ninth in the nation with 2.79 blocks per game. His 39 total blocks stands sixth in D-II.
This award marks the fifth time in his career that Kahler has earned RMAC Defensive Player of the Week. He earned it four times in 2015-16.
Kahler and the Pack return home to meet Metro State University Denver Friday at 5:30 p.m. The Pack's homestand will continue Saturday when they host University of Colorado Colorado Springs Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
Saturday's game will also be High School Night at Massari Arena. All middle school and high school students will be admitted for free with a student ID.
