COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second time this season, Colorado College’s Robbie Stern earned a spot on the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s Team of the Week.
Stern struck for a season-high six goals and added an assist to lead the Tigers to a 15-8 road victory at West Region rival Whittier College last Saturday in Los Angeles.
With CC trailing 3-0 midway through the first quarter, Stern scored three goals during a 5-0 run that gave his team a lead it would not relinquish.
Stern added a goal in the second quarter and two more in the fourth as Colorado College pulled away for its 12th victory in the last 13 games against the Poets.
The senior attacker leads the Tigers with 39 goals, 19 assists and a personal single-season high of 58 points.
Stern is tied for 12th nationally averaging 5.27 points per game and ranks 16th at 3.55 goals per game.
As a team, CC is eighth in scoring offense averaging 16.45 goals per contest and points per game at 26.64. The Tigers also are 12th with a 7.55 scoring margin.
Sophomore attacker Coby Petau (March 20) and junior midfielder Tyler Borko (April 3) also have been recognized by the USILA this season.
Colorado College, which improved to 10-1, is idle until Friday, April 20, when is begins a two-game East Coast road trip at Elizabethtown College.
