Woman arrested for reportedly starting apartment fire

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A woman was arrested after reportedly purposely starting a fire in her apartment and fleeing the immediate area.

Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department first responded to the Fillmore Crossing apartments at 3125 Sinton Road just before 8:30 p.m. Friday.

They were initially called there because someone reported a disturbance at the apartments. When they arrived, they found the "disturbance" was actually someone trying to let residents know there was a fire at the apartment.

Firefighters were called to the area and were able to extinguish the flames before any injuries were reported. The extent of damage to the apartment is unknown.

Following the investigation, Emily Hopkins was found and taken into custody for first-degree arson. Her mugshot was not immediately available.
