TELLER COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - A Texas "10 Most Wanted" sex offender was arrested in Teller County Tuesday morning.
The Teller County Sheriff's Office alongside U.S. Marshals arrested 26-year-old Dakota Stewart in a rural area of Florissant. Stewart was hiding out in the Florissant Heights subdivision living off the grid at a campsite.
In 2009, Stewart was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by exposure after incidents in Tarrant County involving two young girls. Stewart had been wanted since August 2017.
Stewart was wanted for two counts of failing to register as a sex offender and failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements. He was classified as armed and dangerous at the time of his arrest.
