Secretary of Education DeVos to visit Colorado Springs Wednesday

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (KKTV) - U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos is making a stop in Colorado Springs Wednesday.

DeVos is stopping at the Air Force Academy as part of a four-day "Rethink School" tour, which the Department of Education website describes as showcasing "creative ways in which education leaders are meeting the needs of students in K-12 and higher education."

The tour kicked off in Wyoming Tuesday, makes stops in Denver and at the AFA Wednesday before continuing to Nebraska, and wraps up Thursday and Friday with visits to Kansas, Missouri and Indiana.

"There are so many new and exciting ways state-based education leaders and advocates are truly rethinking education. It is our goal with this tour to highlight what’s working. We want to encourage local education leaders to continue to be creative, to empower parents with options and to expand student-centered education opportunities," DeVos said in a statement on the Education Department's website.

DeVos will be at the academy from 11:15 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
