Resident assaulted during home invasion

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Four suspects forced their way into a home on the Springs' northeast side and assaulted the tenant inside.

The break-in happened late Sunday night at the Austin Park apartments on Harmony Drive near Academy and Austin Bluffs.

"First I heard people in the hallway kind of loud, lot of expletives ... then someone started kicking down the door," said neighbor Kimberlee Ramirez, whose bedroom is so close to the victim's unit that she said the commotion was shaking her room.

"I heard ... the banging and then there was a lot of yelling," neighbor Nicole Judd told 11 News.

Judd called 911, while Ramirez woke her husband to see if he could help.

"Somebody needed to do something, " she said.

Ramirez told 11 News her husband followed the suspects down the road and then called police to give them information.

Police have not released many details about the attack, only that the group left in a vehicle afterward.

The victim wasn't seriously hurt.
