Pueblo Fire Department rescues dog from icy Arkansas River

PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - One pup is lucky to be alive after a heroic rescue by the Pueblo Fire Department Ice Rescue Team.

Just after noon on Wednesday, they pulled a 1-year-old German Shepherd named Bill from the icy Arkansas River by Salt Creek, near Highway 227.

The department isn't sure how the dog ended up in the river, as the owner was reportedly not very cooperative.

The dog is doing OK and was reunited with its owner once it was back on shore.
