Standoff in southeast Colorado Springs, 1 in custody

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A person wanted for attempted murder and robbery barricaded himself in the area of San Marcos and Delta in southeast Colorado Springs on Thursday.

The manager of the nearby El Morro Mobile Home Park told 11 News residents were told to stay inside. Police confirmed they sent out an emergency notification to 103 people surrounding the 2400 block of Lexus Drive just before 2 p.m. At about 2:15 p.m., the person was taken into custody. Police deemed the area safe at about 2:45 p.m.

Harrison District 2 confirmed Centennial and Monterey elementary schools were placed on lockout as a precaution. The district said school was going on as usual inside the buildings, but no one was allowed in or out. All students and staff were kept safe.

The person in custody has not yet been identified.
