Police: Texas couple accused of elder abuse could be in Springs area

SAN ANGELO, Texas (KKTV) - San Angelo police are asking the citizens of Colorado Springs to keep their eyes peeled for two suspects wanted for elder abuse.

The police department says they have reason to believe Ramon and Debra Garcia are either in Colorado Springs or have contacted someone in the area.

The couple is accused of failing to provide medical attention to a woman under their care, resulting in her death. They were running a personal care home out of their house at the time.

The incident happened in 2015. Ramon Garcia's trial was scheduled for March 20 of this year, but at a pre-trial conference earlier this month, he failed to show up.

San Angelo police believe his wife, Debra, is helping him hide from authorities. The couple is thought to have a family connection in Colorado Springs or know people in the area.

"We received a request from the San Angelo Police Department if we could assist in locating two individuals that they are looking for on some fairly serious felony charges," said Lt. Howard Black with the Colorado Springs Police Department.

"It's a tragic story, and talking with the detectives down there, really concerned about getting these individuals into custody and getting them back to their jurisdiction."
