Police: Drunk woman hits, bites officers

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A drunk and belligerent woman allegedly tried to fight off police and EMTs when they came to her aid after a crash Saturday night.

Officer Pugsley first encountered the suspect around 7:40 p.m. after he was alerted to a single-car crash on Rockimmon Boulevard near Vindicator Boulevard. Police say she was the only person in the car and clearly drunk; she allegedly started mouthing off Pugsley, who then called a DUI officer to the scene.

Police say the suspect refused to get out of the car when the second officer arrived and had to be forcibly removed. Once out of the car, she allegedly hit the DUI officer and then tried to kick a medic who got on scene a short time later.

The suspect reportedly kept fighting after being strapped into a gurney, biting Pugsley before finally being removed from the scene.

Police have identified the woman as Jodi Norwood, and say Norwood faces charges of second-degree assault on an officer, attempted second-degree assault on an emergency medical provider, and numerous traffic and DUI-related charges.
