COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - An identity theft cased led to a drug bust after police say they discovered the suspect's residence had been flagged as a possible pot grow location.
The case started after a citizen told Springs police their credit card account had been used by someone else at an area business. The suspect had been caught on surveillance camera and was soon identified as a Peyton resident. Not long after that, detectives realized they had previously received Crime Stoppers tips about the suspect's address.
Detectives then obtained a search warrant and uncovered both an illegal marijuana grow and evidence of a fairly prolific credit card fraud operation. According to police, they found evidence of re-coded and cloned credit cards belonging to 15 victims.
Police say they arrested an 18-year-old woman for identity theft and a 35-year-old man for identity theft and the pot grow.
The pair has been identified as Lianet Rubido and Andres Cuellar.
