COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Two people have been arrested in separate incidents where they allegedly assaulted officers in Colorado Springs.
The first incident happened Friday around 5:45 p.m. at the Econo Lodge hotel at 714 N. Nevada Avenue. Officers were in the area for an unrelated call when they were contacted by a concerned person regarding a disturbance in a nearby room.
Officers went to the room and contacted the people inside. The suspect, Jesse Gonzalez, reportedly started fighting during a possible domestic violence incident. That's when officers began ordering Gonzalez and he allegedly went toward one officer, punching him twice in the head and face.
Officers were able to arrest Gonzalez shortly after, where he was then taken to the Criminal Justice Center, charged with second-degree assault on a peace officer. A mugshot of Gonzalez was not immediately available.
The officer was treated for minor injuries on scene. No other officers were injured in the incident.
Hours later, around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, another officer was assaulted following a disturbance with an inebriated man. It happened at a house in the 800 block of Hayden Drive near Airport Road and S. Circle Drive.
Police received a call requesting assistance at the house for a family disturbance. Officers say they were told the suspect, 37-year-old Bre Lyson Kerley, came home inebriated and began breaking furniture.
Officers were allowed inside where they began talking with Kerley. That's when he reportedly picked up a clear, cylinder-shaped container and threw it toward officers, hitting one in the leg. The officer suffered a laceration and was treated for minor injuries at the hospital.
Kerley was arrested, charged with second-degree assault. A mugshot was also not immediately available for Kerley.
