Strong to severe storms are possible on the eastern plains tonight. Activity has calmed down for El Paso and Pueblo Counties but Las Animas and Otero Counties have a severe thunderstorm watch in place until 10 p.m.
Less of an opportunity for showers and storms arrives on Friday. Temps will be warmer in the 80s and 90s. Most activity will be centered on the eastern plains, but we cannot rule out isolated showers and storms in the Pikes Peak region either.
The start of the weekend offers up very slight chances for storms mainly anchored to the higher terrain and a pop up storm or two on the Plains as highs return to the low to upper 90s outside of the mountain regions.
Sunday looks dry and hot with highs in the 90s and 100s.
The heat continues into the start of next work week with isolated afternoon storms possible Monday and Tuesday.
