Mock crash serves as reminder of drunk driving dangers

PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - A group of students in southern Colorado experienced a first-hand look at the dangers of driving drunk or high.

On Thursday, students at Pueblo West were part of a mock crash. Students witnessed a car on its side, with some students trapped inside and another that was thrown out of a second vehicle.

First responders arrived on the scene with lights and sirens. A Flight for Life helicopter also landed at the school.

"I think it was a very eye opening experience especially when they had to take apart the car," Shania Roberts a student at Pueblo West remarked.

"I think the scary part was seeing classmates I knew laying on the floor and having blood all over them," another student Katie Storey mentioned.

This weekend marks prom for students at Pueblo West. The mock crash acts as a reminder of the dangers of drinking and driving.
