(KKTV) - I love to travel and I try to do it whenever possible. When I am fortunate enough to have a really cool experience, I like to share it here in the hope that others can do it too! I’m posting some travel tips from a recent trip to London.
TAKE IN THE TOWER
The Tower of London is a must-see on a visit to England. The oldest part is the White Tower in the center, built by William the Conqueror in 1078. It was expanded in the centuries that followed.
It’s been a palace, a prison, a fortress, a zoo and even the site of many gory executions. Think Henry the 8th’s ex-wives.
My travel tip if you go, wait around for a few minutes and join a tour. The tour guides are Yeomen Warders, or Beefeaters. They are retired military men and women who even live right there on the Tower grounds.
The history of the place in incredible and their knowledge is vast. It’s well worth being part of a group to hear it all straight from an expert.
Get to the tower first thing in the morning, or try late afternoon to avoid the long lines. Get your tickets online first. The longest lines are often the ones to buy the entry tickets.
Take in the tower, it’s a thousand years of British history all in one spot on the banks of the Thames.
It’s also the home of the spectacular crown jewels.
Entry is included if you buy the London Pass.
We'll talk again soon.
