Live-fire training taking place at Fort Carson for more than a month

FORT CARSON, Colo. (KKTV) - Those who live or work near Fort Carson may overhear training taking place starting next week.

The U.S. Army post notified the public on Tuesday that live-fire training exercises will be taking place from Feb. 20 to March 29. The 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division will be taking part in the training.

Surrounding communities should expect noise levels that "may be higher than normal" during this period. Noise complaints should be directed to the Fort Carson Public Affairs Office at 719-526-9849.

Heavy combat platforms such as M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles and M1A2 Abrams Tanks will be firing large caliber ammunition during these exercises. The purpose of the training is to make sure soldiers are proficient with various weapons systems and combat platforms.
