CORONOA, Calif. (KKTV) - Hundreds of people gathered on Thursday in California to honor the life and memory of a U.S. Navy veteran killed in the Las Vegas shooting. Hundreds are expected to gather this Sunday in Colorado Springs.

Christopher Roybal had ties to the Colorado Springs community having worked at Crunch Fitness. He served as a dog handler in the Navy, doing four tours in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

11 News spoke with his wife Dixie, who said Roybal was just a few days away from his 29th birthday. The concert in Las Vegas was a birthday present.
