COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Frontier Airlines has announced four new destinations from the Colorado Springs Airport starting in April of 2018. Travelers will soon be able to fly direct to Seattle, Minneapolis, San Jose and San Antonio. With those new cities, Frontier now has 14 total destinations in and out of the Springs airport.
"Our traffic so far this year is up 30 percent over last year, and that's after an increase of 11 percent last year, so we feel very good about what's happening at the airport," said Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers.
Suthers has been pushing to get travelers to fly out of the Springs airport and not just DIA.
"I want to remind our citizens of southern Colorado, to keep these flights, you got to use them," Suthers said. "So whatever you do, before you book a flight, look at Colorado Springs as a possibility, do some price comparison."
Suthers took office in June of 2015, he promised he would bring in more flights. In the past two years, 15 new flights have been added, including the four announced Tuesday.
Frontier Airlines resumed service at the airport in April of last year after ending flights out of the Springs three years earlier.
