Fountain announces stage 1 fire restrictions


FOUNTAIN, Colo. (KKTV) - The city of Fountain joins the growing list of counties and communities across the state in implementing fire restrictions.

Stage 1 fire restrictions went into effect in Fountain at 11 Monday morning.

This means the following are prohibited in Fountain until the restrictions are lifted:

-prescribed burning
-agricultural burns
-model rockets

The following are still permitted, but with restrictions:
-Outdoor cooking, but only in gas and charcoal grills
-Fire pits, as long as the pits are on private property only, are cleared of all combustibles; and only dry, untreated wood and/or charcoal are used.
-Charcoal grills and wood-burning stoves on private property (see above for stipulations)
-Outdoor recreational fires at campgrounds, parks and public property, but only in permanently constructed fire pits/grates, store-bought fire pits and charcoal grills
-Blasting/welding/torching, but only with permit
