This afternoon will feature some relief from fire danger across Southern Colorado. Easterly flow at the surface has already brought more moisture to the air, which will eventually lend itself to showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Temps will be in the 80s this afternoon. Thunderstorms that develop will push through in the mid to late afternoon hours...as they move into more unstable air along the Plains, storms may become strong to severe. Stick with the 11 Breaking Weather Team for coverage this afternoon and evening.
Less of an opportunity for showers and storms arrives on Friday...Temps will be warmer in the 80s and 90s. Most activity will be centered on the Eastern Plains, but we cannot rule out isolated showers and storms in the Pikes Peak region either.
The start of the weekend offers up very slight chances for storms mainly anchored to the higher terrain and a pop up storm or two on the Plains as highs return to the low to upper 90s outside of the mountain regions.
Sunday looks dry and hot with highs in the 90s and 100s.
The heat continues into the start of next work week with isolated afternoon storms possible Monday and Tuesday.
