FROM THE ARCHIVES: Waldo Canyon Fire 100 percent contained

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED TUESDAY, JULY 10: The Waldo Canyon Fire is now 100 percent contained. This comes 17 days after the fire first started.

The fire has burned 18,247 acres. It destroyed 346 homes and two people were killed. There were also a handful of minor injuries to firefighters.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There were reports of of smoke in Waldo Canyon Friday, June 22. Firefighters couldn't locate the source of the smoke. The next day the fire started burning. Tuesday, June 26, the fire destroyed homes in the Mountain Shadows area.

At its height 32,000 people were evacuated from their homes.
