COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Police sweeped the El Paso County Courthouse, which was supposed to be closed on Friday in honor of Veterans Day, after the building was found to be unlocked.
A viewer reached out to 11 News Friday afternoon at about 3, stating they walked into the courthouse and walked around the building. They were hoping to meet with a probation officer, but the building was supposed to be locked up.
After reviewing surveillance video and sweeping the building, it appears someone jiggled the doors hard enough to break wooden locks put in place. They were able to get through the first set of doors because they weren't locked properly. The Colorado Springs Police Department said there was no malicious intent to break into the courthouse and no suspicious packages were found.
