DENVER (KKTV) - In a tweet Thursday afternoon, the Denver Broncos addressed the decision by many members of the team to kneel during the national anthem Sunday afternoon.
The team stated that despite the controversy, they needed "to show our collective strength and resolve." They stressed their actions were "in no way a protest of the military, the flag, or those who keep us safe," but as public figures with a large platform, they felt a need to use their reach to affect change.
"While there's no greater country, it's not perfect. Inequalities still exist, and we have work to do in ALL forms of social justice. ... It starts with us."
