Genesee Park wildland fire fully contained

GOLDEN, Colo. (KKTV) - Fire crews responded to a small wildland fire in Genesee Park Thursday morning.

The fire burned just north of I-70 near the Chief Hosa exit.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the fire was about 30x30 yards. At the start of the fire, there were 104 homes placed under a pre-evacuation order.

About 30 minutes after releasing information about the fire, deputies said it was 100 percent contained.

Firefighters with Genesee, Foothills, Evergreen, Clear Creek, Indian Hills, Inter Canyon, Golden and Fairmont fire departments all responded to fight the flames, as well as crews from Denver Mountain Parks, Jefferson County Open Space and Colorado State Patrol.
