PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - Crooks are trying to cash checks stolen from the Pueblo branch of a national union earlier this year.
The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office says CWA Local 7774, the Pueblo arm of the Communication Workers of America union, had their checks stolen in May. They've since closed the account associated with the stolen checks, but that hasn't stopped thieves from trying to use them.
If someone tries to give you one of these checks as payment, contact either the bank of issuance or Marcy Harris, president of CWA Local 7774, at 719-252-3919, to verify whether the check is legitimate.
Call law enforcement right away if the check is bad. Contact the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office at 719-252-3919, Pueblo Police Department at 719-553-2502, or Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP.
