PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - A Pueblo man is facing several charges after police say he was involved in a chase and shooting last week.

Demarco Gallegos, 22, was found hiding under a porch, thanks to a witness who chased after Gallegos when he reportedly ran from the scene.

On Friday, an SUV was seen speeding after a truck through a north Pueblo neighborhood. During the chase, someone in the SUV was firing his gun at the other vehicle. Both vehicles were reported stolen.

The vehicles eventually crashed at 19th and Elizabeth Street. According to arrest affidavit, a witness named Travis punched through the windshield and helped Gallegos and a woman climb out of the overturned SUV. He told them to stay there -- but both ignored him and ran. Travis chased after Gallegos and saw him dart under a porch. He alerted police, and they took Gallegos into custody.

The affidavit says police learned it was Gallegos who was leaning out of a passenger window and shooting at the truck. Officers reportedly found a Smith and Wesson .9 mm handgun on the floorboard of the SUV.

Gallegos is facing reckless endangerment charges, as well as possession of a weapon by a previous offender. He has two prior felony convictions for drugs and weapons.

The incident is believed to be gang-related.
