UPDATE: Springs woman ID'd as victim in deadly Teller County crash

DIVIDE, Colo. (KKTV) - A 50-year-old woman was thrown from her SUV and killed in a rollover near Mueller State Park Saturday morning.

The woman was headed south on Highway 67 when she went too fast around a curve and spun off the road. State Patrol says her vehicle went airborne for nearly 30 feet. The woman was ejected while her Ford Explorer kept rolling towards a barbed wire fence. She was reportedly not wearing a seat belt.

First responders did what they could to save the driver's life, but she died at the scene. She was the only person in the SUV.

Speeding is believed to have caused the crash, though alcohol and drug use are being investigated as well.

The driver was identified as Sherry Carias of Colorado Springs.

Editor's note: We were originally told by State Patrol that the woman's age was 65. We have updated the story with the new information.
