2nd Walgreens pharmacy burglary in as many days

The three burglars pried open the front door to break into the store on July 11, 2018.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Three men were after drugs when they broke into a Colorado Springs Walgreens overnight.

Police say the burglars pried open the front door and headed straight for the pharmacy, disregarding everything else in the store.

"It appears medications were the target," said Sgt. Dan Carter with the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The burglary happened just before 1:40 Wednesday morning at the Walgreens on Dublin and Union. The only description of the suspects is that they were dressed head to toe in dark clothing.

The burglary shared similarities with one reported Monday morning 6 miles south on Union, but police say they do not know if the two are connected.

"Pharmacies are popular with criminals because they can get drugs there easily, and unfortunately some pharmacies aren't as secure as others," Carter said.
