For more than 125 years, the doctors, nurses and staff at Penrose-St. Francis Health Services have been caring for the people of Colorado Springs. But, this outstanding care takes place in treatment rooms and operating rooms – places you can’t see unless you’re the patient. We are going to give you a behind the scenes look at the hospital, introduce you to the people and give you a glimpse of what happens… Beyond the Waiting Room.
In the first part of this series, you will get to see into the hallways and treatment rooms of the Emergency Department at Penrose Hospital. People from all walks of life come through these doors every day, looking for help for anything from trauma to a heart attack.
In the second program in this series, we will take you into the Pediatric ER at St. Francis Medical Center in Colorado Springs, where the staff cares for more than 12,000 children each year. From car accidents, to falls to medical needs like the flu, you will see all of this and more in a typical day in the Pediatric ER.
Next, you will get to go into the Level three Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Francis Medical which specializes in providing high-level care to premature babies and babies with severe medical problems. You will meet baby Sofia who was born at 25 weeks and weighed about 1 lb. And, you will get to meet a set of triplets just moments after they were born.
Taking care of the community is more than just a job, it’s more than just our mission, it’s a calling. So join us as we take you… Beyond the Waiting Room.
