A House Democrat is expressing concern about a massive Toyota recall that has led the automaker to stop manufacturing and selling vehicles linked to problems with gas pedals.
Michigan Rep. Bart Stupak, who leads an investigative subcommittee, says his staff will meet with Toyota on Wednesday. Stupak says "we want to find out what Toyota knows" about the problem with sudden acceleration and what the company will do to protect consumers.
Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood told WGN Radio in Chicago that the government pressed the company to stop building vehicles linked to the massive recall. LaHood said "the reason Toyota decided to do the recall and to stop manufacturing was because we asked them to."

I was being facetious in my post. Typing it with a smile on my face. It's hard to get the humor posted in script sometimes. I apologize to ERICB if you took it wrong or if I conveyed it wrong. I still won't give up my Toyota anytime soon but I also own one of the big 3 cars & I like that car too. I actually have zero brand loyalty. I like some & dislike some but it's purely based on personal experiences. Did you see the that Honda is recalling cars because of possible fire danger? It's not on this website yet though.
Bueller I overlooked the mis-spellings LOL on this site I dont think spelling matters, saw that ignored it just read (RED) LOL through the mish mash thanks for pointing it out and btw being a former serviceman in various capacities and having served in most of the harshest environments, was toyota that was getting us to the places in those regions but no bias here any product that fails the consumers should face trial period but yes toyotas have been known to outperform and do a good job not saying they are immune but...
wow look whos on the list now? http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/01/28/business/main6150815.shtml FORD!!! but i guess since the car is only sold in China its ok. oh here is some more http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/01/27/politics/main6147644.shtml "David Strickland, the administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, told reporters in Washington that the Transportation Department had been in regular communication with Toyota about the recall. He said the company's decision to stop selling the vehicles was "an aggressive one and one that is the legal and morally correct thing to do." "Toyota was complying with the law. They consulted with the agency. We informed them of the obligation and they complied," Strickland said. Strickland wouldn't address why Toyota failed to stop selling the vehicles five days earlier when it announced the recall."
