It's always a dilemma this time of year. We want to keep our kids busy over the summer, but the cost of getting out and about can run into some serious money. 11 News is on your side with ideas that are big fun with little or no expense.
You and your children can create a "Family Outdoor Club" for absolutely free, with the help of El Paso County Parks. Just find at least one more family to join you and you can create a club. Club members get an outdoor activity passport, a free cling sticker for your car, nature bucks to spend on programs at the nature centers, and t-shirts for the kids. You'll also have the satisfaction of getting your kids outside and enjoying what Colorado has to offer.
People travel from all over the world, and spend big bucks to enjoy what we have in our own backyard. We have a list of "29-free things to do in Colorado Springs" for you. They include candy and Olympic tours, museums, great outdoor spots and much more. For instance, did you know that you have free general admission to the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center every 3rd Tuesday of each month? There's a lot to do on this list.
This deal isn't free, but it might as well be. You can enjoy 10-weeks of fun family movies for just 5-dollars! That's just 50-cents a movie, and it's the same price for adults! This deal is through the Cinemark "Summer Movie Clubhouse." You'll catch films such as Megamind, How to Train Your Dragon and Despicable Me on select weekday mornings at certain locations in the Colorado Springs and Pueblo. It's cheap and air-conditioned for those hot summer days.
