The Colorado State Fair officially kicks off August 26 and runs through September 5. There's no need to search all over creation for fair discounts and freebies. We've centrally located them on at the link below.

Some of the deals include Military Appreciation Day on Sunday, August 28. Active military members and their families get in free, as well as retired or discharged service members. You do have to show proof of service. There are also special discounts most days, including $1 rodeo tickets on Tuesday, August 30.

Would you Iike something a little more intimate and a lot less noisy? You're invited to a free "Star Party." It's at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in Colorado Springs on Saturday, August 27. You'll have an indoor lesson starting at 6:30 p.m. and then go outside to view distant galaxies and more. It's put on by the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society, and runs until 10 p.m. You won't need a park pass if you stay around the visitor center. You will need a reservation.

If your recreation includes social consciousness, head over to Rock Ledge Ranch at Garden of the Gods. That's where the Pikes Peak EcoFestival this Saturday. It features 65 exhibitors, live music and performances, and recycling. You even get a free beer voucher for recycling. A $4 donation is suggested for admission.
