Updated: 05/14/2013 - I'm still focused on meeting my goal of doing a pull-up. And I'm almost there! But I'm always getting this question:
It's the time of year when we emerge from cool weather hibernation and enjoy all that our beautiful state has to offer. Here are some freebies that can make the experience that much sweeter.
Your children can receive a free rod and reel if they're one of the first 500 accompanied by an adult to the Family Fishing Clinic. It's Saturday, June 4th, at Quail Lake in southwest Colorado Springs.
The clinic is sponsored by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and runs from 8am until 11am. Also, anyone can fish for free, without a license, June 4th and 5th. It's a free fishing weekend in Colorado.
You're invited to a free "Star Party" hosted by the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society. It's Saturday evening, June 4th, from 8pm until 11pm. Just show up before dark at Fox Run Regional Park in north Colorado Springs before dark. Bring a coat and enjoy, and be sure to read the Star Party Etiquette Guide on the group's website before going.
There are activities happening almost every day in June in our local state parks. From campfire talks, to nature games, to hands on lessons about Colorado animals, there are tons of reasons to get off the couch and into the wild.
