There were outcries by many in the Springs community when more than 8,000 streetlights were turned off in early 2010 so that the City could save money. With an improved monetary situation for the city government, streetlights are being turned back on—to the chagrin of a surprising number of people who have determined they prefer their streetlights off.
Citizens who want to keep their area dark have until Friday to notify the City. Crews will begin turning residential streetlights back on beginning the first week of January.
