On New Year's Eve, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak region was broken into, the glass door busted in and money was stolen from the donation box. But now, some generous donors are coming forward to make sure the shelter doesn't go without those funds.
"Well, it can't help but make us feel very good because the call on new years morning that we were broken into was very devastating and it was a downer," says Dr. Wes Metzler of the Humane Society
The only thing left was some loose change in the donation box after the thief broke it and stole about about $300.00.
After seeing the story on 11 news, a generous donor from Landmark Motors stepped forward to donate $500.00.
"I was crushed. What are these times coming to? Are people desperate that they are going to steal from a volunteer agency," says Mark Pimental, who donated the money.
Mark Pimental says he'll continue to support the Humane Society. Meanwhile, another generous donor is stepping forward to replace the smashed glass door.
