It's the time of year when many are giving back to the community and the children of Southern Colorado are no exception.

The Angel Project was started by a local mom who wanted to not only get her kids involved in giving back, but get other Southern Colorado children to get involved in doing random acts of kindness.

The Angel Project was started by Vickie Smith after a brainstorm about two months ago. Her vision is to see all Southern Colorado children doing random acts of kindness.

Tuesday's event was bringing food clothes and money to those in need at the Marian House. "We just do stuff for people that just don't have anything and that really touches people, and that's why we say you are touched by an angel," says 11-year-old Joshua Smith. Smith is just one of about a dozen youngsters who showed up at the Marian house Tuesday to donate to the Angel Project.

The total money donated to the Marian House Tuesday was more than $250.00, collected only over a two week period. Some of the next monthly events for the angel project include skyping in to the children's hospital to sing Christmas carols and showing up at an assisted living center to do the same.
