The test that sets the bar for Colorado students is getting a makeover. A two year discussion into revising state standards for Colorado schools was passed last night by the state board of education. CSAPs are tests that are multiple choice questions based on as many as 30 topics including geography and math. Revised tests will focus on fewer topics and students will have to apply solutions to problems in an essay in some cases.

"Well, the purpose of CSAP is to assess students on testing against the standards, and so as standards are revised the state testing system will need to be revised also, really tonight's approval kicks off the revision process," said Todd Morse of the D-20 school district.

Education officials say school districts would have two years to implement the new testing.
