Thousands showed up to the Citadel mall Saturday, but it wasn't necessarily for holiday shopping. Many were looking for an H1N1 vaccination from the El Paso County Health Department.

With an increased amount of vaccine coming into El Paso County Saturday's clinic was open for everyone six months and older.

The line poured out of the old Steve and Barry's store in the Citadel Mall for one reason. "I don't want to take a chance. I don't think it's worth it. It's a quick poke," said Amber Spinks. She brought her three children to get the vaccine.

Getting the shot wasn't part of her original plan. "I brought the kids to see Santa and after we got out of the Santa line, we heard that they were having the free H1N1, so we headed over here," Spinks said.

"Because our supplies are increasing and we feel our providers have made a push for targeting those high risk groups we decided to open it up for anyone looking to get protected," said Dr. Bernadette Albanese with the El Paso County Health Department.

"It's a festive day because of the holidays, and it's still very important to protect yourself from the flu and stay healthy for the holiday season," Albanese said.

About 3,000 doses were available for the clinic.
