Fremont and Pueblo Counties have had them, but there haven't been any flu clinics in El Paso County yet.
We've had several viewers e-mail and call us asking when doses will be given out here and why residents have had to wait so long.
The first public clinic for the H1N1 virus will be Wednesday November 11, 2009 at Coronado High School. That's because the department now has enough vaccinations to open it up to everyone.
Over the last few weeks, the county health department received about 40,000 doses. Many of those doses were directed to pharmacies and doctor's offices targeted with patients at high-risk for getting H1N1.
"While the health department clinics, we have been on that list, we felt it was important to get the vaccination out to the providers, out to the hospitals, so we can get the health care workers who are treating patients first. That's been a priority for our county," says Dr. Bernadette Albanese of the El Paso County Health Department.
The department asks that if you have any questions that you contact the department and not the locations where the clinics will be held.
In the meantime, Dr. Albanese asks you to keep being vigilant. Protect yourself from getting sick with proper handwashing and staying home if you are having symptoms.
