Triumph over adversity.
That's the message many in the military took with them today at a speech delivered by one of their own.
15-years after Retired 1st Class Sergeant Dana Bowman had his life changed through a major parachuting accident, he wants people to know that you can triumph over adversity.
Retired Sergeant Bowman is spreading his message of inspiration to Southern Colorado military, especially those with disabilities. "We don't want to forget them, the way I look at it, we all have a disability," says Bowman.
His disability happened 15 years ago, but he is going strong today. "Lost both legs in a United States military parachute team over 15 years ago and I haven't given up. And if I can give you some words of wisdom on how we can treat our men and women with a disability, that we can make a better world," says Bowman.
Losing both his legs, and his teammate, in the parachute accident didn't stop him from reaching his goals. After recovery he even re-enlisted in the Army. "What can I do? And we are not limitless this is just the beginning, if I can show them that I can still skydive and still can land on target," says Bowman.
Since then, he's been on more than 1,000 jumps, and in the meantime, he's touring the country speaking to anyone he can about not giving up hope, during times of distress.
Bowman spent the day speaking at Peterson Air Force Base and Buckley Air Force Base. Bowman will have two very special jumps coming up in Colorado, one at the Air Force/Army football game and the other at the Steelers/Broncos game.

Wasn't he part of the Black Knights stunt parachuting team or some name like that? Is this the dude who collided with another member while free-falling? He lost his legs, and the other man died. This information would have made the story more complete and interesting!
