The city of Colorado Springs and local public safety agencies will host
three one-day emergency skills camps for kids from 10 to 15 years old.
The camp includes hands-on CPR training, basic first aid, fire prevention, Cyber safety, stranger danger, 9-1-1 protocol, and swift water survival.
Attendees will participate in six classes where they will learn lifelong safety skills and behaviors in a fun educational format.
The day’s activities include a field trip to the Police Operations Dispatch Center.
Hosts include the Colorado Springs Fire Department, Colorado Springs Police Department, El Paso-Teller County 9-1-1, and the City of Colorado Springs Public Communications Office.
KKTV 11 News Chief Meteorologist Brian Bledsoe will be helping out at the camp.
Dates for the camp are as follows:
Thursday, June 5, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Friday, July 11, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Thursday, August 7, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Advance registration is required for the free sessions. Registrations will be accepted starting Wednesday, April 30 at 8 a.m. by calling 385-5950. Space is limited to 75 participants each day.
