KKTV 11 News took home top honors from the Colorado Broadcasters Association's "Awards of Excellence" on March 14, 2010, including the title of "Station of the Year". KKTV 11 News also won Best Newscast (KKTV 11 News at 10 p.m.), Best Anchor Team (Don Ward and Shannon Brinias), Best Website (KKTV.com), Best Breaking News Coverage, Best General, Hard News or In-Depth Coverage, Best Sportscaster (Jesse Kurtz), and first place awards for several categories dedicated to news promotion.

Anchor and consumer advocate Betty Sexton was named "Broadcast Citizen of the Year" for her work in educating the community about identity theft prevention.

General Manager Tim Merritt said he could not be happier about the awards. "Our team has always been dedicated to serving our viewers and our entire community," said Merritt. "It feels good to see them get recognized."

"We have a group of dedicated, skilled, and hard-working journalists," said News Director Liz Haltiwanger. "To be singled out by our peers for that work is really an honor."
